Job Summary
Districtwide Special Education Paraeducator in Fayette County Public Schools supports certified teachers in implementing instructional practices and maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment for students with special needs. Responsibilities include implementing teacher-developed plans, assisting with health-related procedures (e.g., tube feeding, catheterization, toileting, lifting), data collection and reporting concerns, supporting non-academic learning environments, clerical duties, and contributing to progress monitoring and behavior plans. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds, classroom materials preparation, and collaboration with teachers and staff. Qualifications include 48 college credits or Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment or an Associate's Degree; experience with youth in organized settings and diverse backgrounds; ability to communicate effectively and maintain records. Training in safe crisis management may be required; bilingual willingness is noted.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 48 college credit hours or successful completion of the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment or completion of an Associate's Degree
- Experience working with youth in an organized setting and some instructional experience in a classroom environment working with children and parents with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds
- N/A (Licenses or Certifications)
- Knowledge of basic subjects taught in District Schools and PBIS practices
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with students’ health-related needs
