Districtwide Cybersecurity Specialist

Job Summary
Monitor, analyze, and mitigate security threats while maintaining districtwide security systems including EDR/MDR solutions, endpoint protection, and email filters. Coordinate server patch management schedules, manage daily log analysis, and enforce identity and access management policies across district software. Educate staff and students on cybersecurity best practices through simulated phishing campaigns and data privacy training. Evaluate vendors, maintain incident response documentation, and track industry threat intelligence. Collaborate with network and systems staff to secure LAN/WAN infrastructure and cloud applications. This role safeguards sensitive student and staff data to ensure a secure learning environment. Requires a valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the district.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field
- Two or more years of experience in information technology with a focus on network security, systems administration, or incident response
- Active security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, or GIAC)
- Current networking certifications (Network+ or CCNA)
- Technical knowledge of TCP/IP, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and wireless network security
- Familiarity with student data privacy standards, Data Privacy Agreements (DPAs), and cloud security compliance (Google Workspace for Education)
- Adherence to FERPA COPPA, and CIPA compliance
- Valid Driver's License and personal transportation

- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 35 pounds, bend, stoop, and reach during equipment inspection and installation
- Embrace the process of constant learning and self-improvement through advanced security training and certifications
- Ability to work in a variety of locations, travel throughout the District
- Work non-traditional hours (including evenings and weekends) as needed to mitigate security emergencies
