Job Summary
Organize and implement an instructional program for visually impaired students consistent with the district's educational philosophy. Design annual educational plans for each student based on individually assessed needs, preparing lesson plans and providing specialized instructional techniques through individual or group sessions. Coordinate with classroom teachers, community agencies, and parents to meet students' educational, social, and emotional needs while ensuring all evaluation records and progress reports are maintained in permanent folders. Participate in evaluation teams, in-service programs, and staffing processes as appropriate. Maintain a 187-day contract with a Bachelor's Degree and Kentucky Certification in Teaching Exceptional Children-Visually Impaired.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Valid Kentucky Certification in field (Certificate for Teaching Exceptional Children-Visually Impaired, Grades Primary through 12)
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate work beyond the bachelor's degree
- Classroom teaching experience
- Experience in a like position
