Job Summary
Lead a district sales team of outside sales personnel and support representatives, driving sales activities, market share growth, and profitability across the Southwest region. Develop and execute strategies to increase margins, while managing personnel assessments, hiring, training, and performance accountability for all team members. Make decisions on account management, pricing, product selection, and customer incentives to maximize revenue, ensuring Sales Representatives utilize all planning and reporting resources effectively. Resolve product and service complaints with customers and end users, manage collections through monthly past due reports, and maintain the highest level of professional service as a business partner.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S., B.E.) from an accredited four-year college or university
- Minimum 3-years sales management experience
- Valid driver's license for the state in which the DSM is working
- Ability to drive 25-50% of the work day
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contracts, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations
- Ability to write bids, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and profitability
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Must be able to travel 25% of the time including potential global travel
- Must be able to lift items, such as sundries or containers of paint weighting from 5 to 75 pounds
- Must be able to drive a large delivery truck/vehicle
- Must be able to climb ladders
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, e.g., active construction sites
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to use a respirator
