District Payroll Specialist

Job Summary
Process payroll information according to employment agreements, ensuring accurate coding and funds distribution for timely employee payments. Balance monthly payroll and coordinate with personnel to establish and maintain employee contracts, tax forms, and direct deposit details. Prepare and distribute annual tax information such as W-2 statements while responding to employment verification requests. Recommend policies and procedures to meet district payroll objectives and assist the business manager with fiscal year-end and calendar year reports. Manage employee files, transcripts, and lane changes while cooperating with retained auditors. Attend required training programs and perform other delegated duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of post-secondary education with coursework in business, math, accounting, bookkeeping or other related area preferred
- Knowledge of the school system structure, policies and procedures
- Proficient computer skills to include, but not limited to, Microsoft Office & Google Drive
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
- Ability to work within a team setting with multiple contributors on projects
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to multitask
- Willingness to learn and acquire new skills
- Cleared criminal, child and adult abuse background checks
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, perform complex arithmetic operations and use calculators

- Ability to report work verbally and in writing to Business Manager /Human Resource Director as required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school district financial and other information
- Proficient in the operation of general office equipment including, but not limited to, copy machines, printers, and telephones
- Computers applications including word processing, database, and spreadsheet software
- Aptitude to learn and utilize advanced technology (TimeClock Plus, Aesop, Software Unlimited, etc)
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Payroll and/or Accounts Payable experience
- Experience in with Software Unlimited
