Job Summary
District Forester leads management of company-owned timberlands to support safe, sustainable forest operations. Responsibilities include developing and executing forest management plans with a focus on timber growth, harvest planning, reforestation, and contractor oversight; ensuring compliance with Best Management Practices and water quality protections; conducting timber cruising, stand assessments, and inventory updates; maintaining GIS maps and records; supervising boundary work, road planning, and improvements; supporting timber sale preparation and post-harvest follow-up; coordinating with internal teams, consultants, contractors and landowners; preparing field notes, maps, and recommendations; and assisting with hunting club matters as needed. Strong emphasis on field data analysis, GIS, contractor coordination, and regulatory compliance within Louisiana. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel and experience with GIS/digital mapping tools are required; SAF certification or related credentials are a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in forestry, Forest Management, or a closely related field is required
- Two to five years of forestry, timberland management, or related field experience is preferred
- Working knowledge of forest management planning, reforestation, timber harvest operations, forest inventory, and timber stand improvement practices is required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required
