Job Summary
Administer the jury summons process pursuant to Idaho law by monitoring the court calendar, compiling the master jury list, and processing summons notices. Respond to callers seeking information regarding jury duty, review disqualification and excuse requests, and make determinations according to established policy. Record daily messages for the code-a-phone, monitor juror responses, contact non-compliant jurors, and prepare Orders to Show Cause. Maintain daily attendance records and compute jury fees monthly while operating a personal computer and office equipment. Work independently in a general office environment under the direction of the Clerk and judges, Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a one hour lunch break.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- Course background in general office skills
- At least one year of previous office or court related experience
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to communicate effectively
- Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to establish, maintain and monitor documents
- Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate computer equipment and other office equipment
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to work in an office setting
- Knowledge of Court practices, procedures and protocol
- Knowledge of Legal process and statutes related to the jury system
- Knowledge of General office practices and procedures
- Knowledge of Computer based information systems and applications related to jury list database
- Ability to Work independently
- Ability to Quickly learn and apply the laws, rules and regulations established for jury service
- Ability to Interpret and explain jury selection processes and procedures
- Ability to Deal with a variety of personalities in a polite and tactful manner
- Ability to Make sound and reasonable decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations and established procedures
- Ability to Perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines
- Ability to Maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, public, supervisory personnel, and fellow employees
- Ability to Understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions
- Ability to Operate a personal computer
- Ability to Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Ability to Operate a variety of office equipment
