Job Summary
District-wide School Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing care to students using professional assessment skills and the nursing process, develops and implements individualized healthcare plans (IHPs), and coordinates emergency care and referrals. Acts as health advocate, collaborates with parents, school personnel, and healthcare providers; ensures medication administration per district policy; participates in health education, ARD/IEP meetings, and campus health program administration; supervises LVNs and clinic aides; maintains confidential student health records and immunization documentation; requires RN license (TX), AED and CPR certifications, and 3 years nursing experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program
- Valid RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing
- AED and CPR certificates (BLS)
- Knowledge of health appraisal, policies and procedures, basic first aid
- Experience: 3 years nursing experience (preferred)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Supervisory responsibilities of LVNs and clinic staff
- Maintains immunization and health records
- Compliance with district and state health rules
