Job Summary
Accounting Coordinator II for the district's Business Office; full-year, full-time role reporting to the Director of Finance. Responsible for accounts receivable (deposit prep, data entry, invoicing, returned checks), bank reconciliations, grant accounting (including budgeting and reporting), and school meals/food service accounting. Helps train staff on the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) and nutritional requirements; assists with budget preparation, documentation, and implementation; performs month-end/year-end closing tasks and journal adjustments; ensures compliance with district policies and Michigan School Accounting Manual; requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and strong data processing/spreadsheet skills; must be able to travel to district locations, work overtime as needed, and pass a criminal history background check.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent required
- Experience in accounting, budgeting, data processing, word processing, spreadsheets and other office skills required
- Working knowledge of Michigan School Accounting Manual and school district policies
- Analytical and organizational abilities
- Ability to deal with details and maintain accuracy
- Interpersonal skills to deal with diverse groups
- Ability to handle confidential information
