Job Summary
District Accountant for Waste Connections of Canada in Vancouver. You will support the District Controller with the full accounting cycle, monthly reporting, and special projects. Responsibilities include coordinating month-end close with journal entries, preparing monthly financial reports and forecasts, assisting with annual budget preparations, reviewing TRUX cash entries, performing cash reconciliations, managing AR/AP and collections, analyzing AR trends and DSO, presenting AR/collections metrics, and assisting with greenhouse gas emissions reporting and inventories. Strong communication, problem-solving, and Excel skills required; CPA path encouragement noted. Collaboration across Operations, Sales, Dispatch, Customer Service, and Maintenance is emphasized alongside a safety-minded, team-focused culture.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience
- Bachelor's degree, Business or Accounting
- Must be enrolled in the CPA PEP or be eligible and committed to enrolling in the CPA program
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and navigate multiple priorities
- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel
- A MUST and related accounting business systems Open to CPA path
