Job Summary
Direct and coordinate the planning, design, and construction of the City's electrical distribution system up to 15kV, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and safety requirements. Prepare detailed plans, specifications, cost estimates, and documentation for overhead and underground projects while overseeing design functions and field operations. Supervise Distribution Designers, Electric Meter Technicians, and Field Service Technicians, providing leadership, training, and performance guidance. Negotiate rights-of-way and easements with property owners, and perform Journeyman Electric Lineman duties as needed. This exempt position requires four years of experience in municipal electric distribution design and two years of supervisory experience. A valid Colorado driver's license is required, and the role involves occasional field visits and travel. Hiring begins July 1, 2026, or when filled.
Required Qualifications
- four (4) years of experience in municipal electric distributions system design, construction/maintenance, or other closely related work
- two (2) years of supervisory or management experience
- Valid Colorado driver's license or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Ability to obtain ICS 100 & ICS 700 certifications within 12 months of hire
- Ability to proficiently read, speak, and understand English
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical skills

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write complex reports and distill information for many audiences
- This position requires close, distance and peripheral vision

- Ability to hear sounds and signals indicating work and safety necessities
- This position requires standing, walking and sitting for periods of time
- Utilization of hands and fingers to operate office computer keyboard and equipment required
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel or crouch if needed
- Must be able to lift up to ten (10) pounds as needed and frequently lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds
- Effective proficiency in the use of computer software and applications

- Candidates for this position may be required to take and pass technology proficiency assessments prior to employment
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced coursework or training in utility distribution design, NESC standards, GIS/mapping systems, or related areas
- Two years' experience as a Journeyman Electric Lineman
- Experience working directly with electric utility distribution systems, utility engineering, field operations, or technical project management
- Training or certification in AutoCAD, GIS mapping systems, or utility design platforms
- Proficiency in non-English languages
