Job Summary
Distribution Engineering III role leading the design, analysis, and optimization of overhead and underground distribution systems (4–69 kV). Responsibilities include engineering & technical oversight (field notes, drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates; load flow, fault analysis, voltage drop; compliance with IEEE, NEC, NESC, NERC), evaluating DERs and grid modernization technologies, conducting field assessments, reviewing designs from juniors/consultants, and mentoring junior engineers. Project management duties cover multi-project coordination, timelines, budgets, client/contractor liaison, progress tracking, risk mitigation, and execution of technical reports and stakeholder presentations. Collaboration focuses on improving engineering processes, sharing knowledge, staying current with industry trends, and ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in distribution systems. Skills emphasized include advanced power systems knowledge, experience with GIS, AutoCAD, TED, pole loading analysis, protection and coordination, DER integration, energy storage, and strong communication and analytical abilities; experience with ABET-accredited electrical engineering programs and a strong emphasis on mentorship and cross-functional teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited institution in electrical engineering
- 6-8 years of experience in distribution system engineering and design, including project management experience
- Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, TED, Pole Loading Analysis software, and engineering analysis tools preferred
