Job Summary
Perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers, developing work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects using customer GIS and WMS systems. Manage the scope, schedule, and budget of assigned work while reviewing engineering design packages with clients and initiating continuous improvement to workflow processes. Coordinate conflicting utilities and field engineering design requirements, including work permit development, easements, and ROW applications, while collecting field data to assist in developing work packages. This role supports the Power Delivery Services Team, which delivers reliable power and telecommunication expertise to over 50 investor-owned utilities and 160 municipals/cooperatives.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of prior relevant experience
- Bachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred)
- Relevant experience working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company performing design engineering for electric distribution
- Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
- Some Prior knowledge of structural analysis, guying calcs, cable pulling calcs, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault currents calculations
- Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
- Must be located within a commutable distance of our Michigan support areas
- Must be available for in-person meetings and assignments throughout the customer territory in Michigan on an as-needed basis
