Job Summary

Prepare and review construction sketches, work packages, pole loading analyses, and voltage drop calculations for overhead and underground distribution facilities ranging from 4 KV to 38 KV. Lead project teams in designing complex tasks, overseeing cable pulling, and managing bills of materials and cost estimates. Support preliminary project scoping, field work, and system modifications while coordinating joint use, traffic control plans, and client interactions. This hybrid role requires three days in the office and offers a relocation package. Utilize modern tools and automation to solve engineering problems, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.

Required Qualifications

  • This position requires a degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Two or more years of experience with electric utility distribution or relevant experience to be able to review work by others.
  • Knowledgeable in physical distribution design methods and their application.
  • Knowledgeable in applicable codes, standards, and distribution software programs including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, PoleForeman, etc.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD.
  • Experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects (120/208V through 38 kV).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Able to lead a project team.
  • This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of spending three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.
  • Dependent upon your location, this opportunity offers a generous relocation package.

Desired Qualifications

  • Valued but not required skills and experience: Experience in utility distribution inspections and/or construction.
  • Familiarity with various distribution design/analysis software.
  • Familiarity with GIS software.
  • Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation is valued but not required.
  • We also value additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that helps you apply automation or agentic AI to real engineering problems.
