Job Summary

Represent M&S Engineering in client meetings and construction resources while developing detailed scoping and engineering plans for electric distribution projects. Perform distribution line design calculations for structure loading, guying, and geometric angles using industry tools, and recognize framing components from 4kV through 35kV to initiate designs for overhead and underground facilities. Secure easements, right of entry requests, and permitting, and partner with subject matter experts to resolve technical engineering conflicts affecting cost, schedule, and quality. Work outdoors extended hours to stake distribution facilities across various terrain, requiring physical stamina for walking, carrying equipment, and overnight travel.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
  • Current Texas Driver's License with an insurable driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors extended hours
  • Able to walk and carry hammers, stakes, lathes, etc.
  • Proficient with the use of a laptop computer
  • Proficient with MS Outlook
  • Proficient with MS Excel
  • Proficient with MS Word
  • Strong skills of time management

Desired Qualifications

  • Associates degree or certificate in Electric Power Technology
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience
  • Three (3) years prior experience with electric distribution design and estimation
  • Knowledge of Entergy's GDT system
  • Experience with Maximo
  • Experience with MicroStation
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with the NESC and its applications to electric distribution line design
  • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems
  • Familiarity with joint construction and electric utility best practices
  • Ability to interpret property line boundary
  • Ability to interpret topographic surveys
  • Ability to interpret as-built surveys
  • Ability to interpret construction staking
  • Ability to interpret ROW staking
  • Ability to collect geospatial points
  • Familiarity with the procedures for permit acquisition involving TxDOT, City, County, State and Federal applications
  • Use of surveying equipment
  • Gathering of geospatial points
