Distribution Coordinator (FTC)

Job Summary
Schedule and track shipments of dry, coated, and concrete materials to ensure timely delivery to internal and external customers. Liaise with quarries to secure material availability and communicate directly with clients from order placement through delivery completion. Collaborate with Operations, Transport, and Commercial teams to optimize daily distribution plans, manage haulier relationships, and maintain vehicle compliance. Analyze declined and lost volumes to identify capacity enhancement opportunities and proactively communicate production disruptions to the Commercial Team. Act as the primary point of contact for resolving driver and vehicle issues while ensuring all legal obligations are met. This fixed-term role supports Breedon Group's vertically integrated construction materials operations across Great Britain, Ireland, and the USA.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in distribution planning, transport coordination, or logistics operations
- Knowledge of logistics, transport regulations, and planning best practices
- Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Understanding of routing, vehicle capacities, and cost-efficient load planning
- GCSEs or equivalent (minimum)
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to last-minute changes
- Customer-focused approach with a commitment to service excellence
- Team player with the ability to work independently when needed
- Analytical thinker with an understanding of cost and service trade-offs
