Job Summary
Distributed Systems Engineer for Cloudflare’s Logs and Audit Logs team in Austin, TX. Design, build, and operate a robust logging platform delivering secure data transfer to customer destinations and third-party integrations. Develop high-performance data connectors and integrations for log-shipping products, ensure comprehensive audit logs, scale the data delivery pipeline for massive data volumes with low latency, collaborate with product and engineering teams to define requirements, maintain operational health through monitoring and on-call rotation, and contribute to architectural evolution of the data egress platform. Key qualifications include 3+ years in distributed systems, strong Go, observability with Prometheus/Grafana, SQL expertise, solid CS foundation, strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and experience with data streaming (Kafka, Flink) and logging platforms (Splunk, Datadog, Sumo Logic) plus storage (S3/R2/GCS) and IaC tools (Terraform/SALT).
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of software development experience with distributed systems and data pipelines
- Strong programming skills in Go (preferred) and best practices for building resilient, high-throughput systems
- Hands-on experience with modern observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana) and handling high-cardinality metrics at scale
- Strong knowledge of SQL and query optimization
- Solid foundation in computer science (algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, concurrency)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to debug and troubleshoot complex scale issues
- Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate effectively
- Experience with data streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink) is a plus
- Experience with logging platforms or SIEMs (e.g., Splunk, Datadog, Sumo Logic) and storage destinations (e.g., S3, R2, GCS) is a plus
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, SALT) is a plus
- Experience with Linux containers (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
