Job Summary
Deliver curriculum for different skill levels and coach, supervise, and operate a quality team by demonstrating strong YMCA values and member service. Communicate in advance any scheduling conflicts and maintain regular communication with the supervisor regarding program operations. Provide and maintain a safe program environment at all times, including proper emergency procedures and reacting appropriately to emergencies. Organize and instruct athletes in sport-specific skills to enable participants to learn basic techniques while upholding risk management standards. Perform other duties and assignments as deemed necessary by the supervisor. The Fall Season runs from September 4th to October 26th.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, which includes EPI and Asthma certifications
- knowledge of Track & Field programs and specific sport skills
- good communication skills that enable them to interact with children and parents
- good organizational skills
- ability to lift heavy equipment and be able to conduct rigorous practices
- ability to lead and make decisions during extenuating circumstances regarding safety, security and emergency situations to protect the interests of our members, staff and gym facilities
- outgoing and enthusiastic attitude, which will enable them to deal with staff and members appropriately
Desired Qualifications
- coaching experience in distance/cross country
