Job Summary
Receive emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, evaluating information to dispatch Humane Officers for priority responses and coordinating with local law enforcement and emergency services. Transmit routine and emergency radio messages with officers in the field, maintain the Shelter Buddy and Computer Aided Dispatch databases by documenting facts accurately, and serve as part of major emergency responses by coordinating increased traffic. This role delivers service at the gold standard level for the San Diego Humane Society's mission to Inspire Compassion, supporting over 40,000 animals annually. The position requires a high school diploma, one year of customer service experience, and typically works Monday through Friday overnight shifts.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year paid experience in the field of customer service handling high-pressure situations in-person or over the phone
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work effectively with a team in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced training and/or instruction in field of customer service
- Experience with heavy incoming call volume
- Bilingual skills
- Bilingual-Spanish
