Job Summary
Dispatcher coordinates and dispatches buses to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time service within an assigned geographic area. Oversees daily routing and scheduling, dispatches vehicles, monitors service performance, coaches drivers, handles scheduling issues and driver concerns, serves as primary liaison with major contracted customers, and may assist with charter reservations, payroll, licensing monitoring, and driver hiring. Ensures customer satisfaction, supports backup driver coverage, and completes special projects while ensuring compliance with contracts, policies, and applicable regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a CDL Operator’s License with required endorsements and applicable state or local permits
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in the transportation industry
- Managerial or supervisory experience preferred
- CDL may be required based on contract
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work early morning hours and meet strict deadlines
- Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and in high‐volume environments
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor with employees, customers, and the public
- Dress professionally and appropriately for a business environment
- Perform all job duties safely in accordance with OSHA guidelines and applicable federal and state laws
- Follow all company policies and procedures
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to use or learn internet‐based systems, required software programs, and office equipment (phones, fax machines, and other electronic devices)
