Job Summary
Oversee daily dispatch operations by assigning loads, tracking fleet movement, and optimizing routes using dispatching software. Monitor driver progress and delivery times while responding promptly to delays, equipment breakdowns, or weather impacts. Act as shift lead to coordinate with scale room, maintenance, and customer teams, resolving inquiries and escalating issues as needed. Communicate clearly with CDL A drivers and customers to ensure precise tractor-trailer pairing and efficient coordination. Support the Transportation Operations Manager with performance feedback and maintain working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of truck maintenance
- Maintain working understanding of DOT/FMCSA regulations
- Ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced work environment, manage competing demands, and deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
- Ability to manage difficult or emotional situations, solicit customer feedback to improve service, and respond to requests for service and assistance
- Frequently lift, move, or position materials weighing up to 50 lbs
- Exposure to outdoor climate
- Remain in a seated position for 65% of the scheduled shift
- Routinely performs repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, reaching, and lifting
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the production department and other designated areas
