Job Summary
Dispatcher for LifeCare Ambulance in Memphis: Receives emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatches closest ambulance, maintains radio communications with crew and supervisors, logs call details, coordinates with other jurisdictions as needed, and ensures compliance with FCC regulations. Requires calm, professional handling of stressful calls, multi-tasking, information gathering from callers, and familiarity with EMS operations (BLS/ALS) and EMD certification within one year. Proficiency with radio, computer, telephone, and fax systems is needed; candidates must be able to sit for prolonged periods and satisfy post-offer checks.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Typing skills of 25 wpm or better
- EMD certification within 1 year of hire
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to answer, screen, and direct information from all types of calls
- Functional hearing and functional eyesight
- Ability to operate radio console, computer, telephone system and fax machine
