Job Summary
Coordinate communication between field staff and facilities to ensure timely and accurate responses to service requests for ambulance transports. Receive, assimilate, and record information accurately into the system while relaying appropriate details to crews. Ensure all transport requests are picked up promptly, crews are accounted for, and callers are notified of any delays. Operate computers, software, and multi-line phone systems to provide optimal transportation services to patients and referring agencies. Manage high-stress situations with strong verbal communication skills and attention to detail while working varying shifts including weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of geography of service area
- Operates computers, software, and multi-line phone system
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to hear well
- Must be able to speak, write, and understand English fluently
- Proficiency in spelling and writing English
- Possess good verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle adverse situations effectively
- Ability to quickly manage and transition between various tasks while maintaining attention to detail
- Self-confidence, emotional stability, good judgment, and tolerance for high stress
- Flexible as to work schedule and able to work varying shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays
Desired Qualifications
- Prior Dispatch or medical experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to deal with high stress situations
- Customer service experience
- Working knowledge and proficiency of electronic communication
