Job Summary
Oversee routing and scheduling of school buses and drivers, assigning vehicles and ensuring proper equipment distribution. Act as front-line support for drivers regarding route issues, vehicle problems, customer service inquiries, and complaints, while escalating incidents to the proper authority. Communicate with drivers, school district personnel, parents, and stakeholders via two-way radios and phones to manage calendars and address concerns. Assist in driver training and safety meetings, ensuring compliance with company policies and provincial regulations. Cover school bus routes on an as-needed basis. Work Monday through Friday from 6:15 am to 3:15 pm at the Elmira location.
Required Qualifications
- Great customer service and communication skills
- Be polite, and able to balance the needs of drivers, customers, and the office in a fair and consistent manner
- Ability to work well under stress
- Computer literacy skills
- Previous experience in a high-volume Dispatch setting or similar volume-based role
- Have an excellent knowledge of the Waterloo Region road network and surrounding areas
- Possess or willing to obtain a valid Class-B license (free license upgrade offered for STC)
- Willing to share on call responsibilities (after training period)
- Must be capable of learning to communicate effectively with a 2-way radio
- Will be required to cover School Bus routes on an as needed basis
