Job Summary
Dispatcher role responsible for dispatching units to pick up and deliver freight, monitoring driver performance, and ensuring customer timelines are adhered to. Responsibilities include arranging daily deliveries, assigning pick up requests, entering orders, setting up freight appointments, manifesting shipments, coordinating ETAs with Central, checking expedited shipments and missed pick-ups, answering phones for pick-up requests, coordinating drivers for second rounds of deliveries, tracking lumpers hours, reviewing requirements, monitoring driver performance, identifying areas for improvement and efficiencies, and performing related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of secondary education
- preference for post-secondary education in Supply Chain or Logistics Management or combination of education and experience
- 3-5 years of dispatch experience
- Geographical knowledge of central Ontario
- Previous experience in the transportation industry
- Computer skills – accuracy, MS products, TruckMate, web-based programs
- Ability to work to deadlines in a high transactional environment
- TruckMate experience preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently; a self-starter
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule
- English required; other languages an asset but not required
