Job Summary
Coordinate deliveries, assign pickup requests, and enter line haul orders into the computer system. Monitor driver performance, review yard checks to ensure freight is not missed, and check for expedited shipments. Answer phones from drivers and customers, assign appointment freight deliveries to trucks, and coordinate drivers for second-round deliveries. Identify areas for improvement and efficiencies while performing clerical duties for compliance and broker pay. This role supports Day & Ross, a leading North American transportation and logistics provider, by ensuring customer timelines are adhered to and operational demands are met.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Transportation background in dispatch, dock supervision (2-3 years)
- Computer literate in Excel and Word
- Truckmate experience
- Must have a strong sense of urgency
- Must be able to work under a flexible work schedule
- Must be a hands-on operator, trainer, coach and mentor
- Must be able to build and maintain relationships
- Must be a self-starter
- English required
Desired Qualifications
- An understanding of the geography of the area
- Equipment knowledge is an asset
- Strong problem solving skills with the ability to implement proactive solutions to support operational demands and efficiencies
- Results focused
- Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to manage demands and resolve issues with drivers, coworkers, etc.
- Good communication skills
- Other languages an asset but not required
