Job Summary
Coordinate communication between field staff and facilities to ensure timely responses to service requests for ambulance transports. Receive, record, and relay information accurately into the dispatch system while managing transport requests via phone or computer. Monitor crew availability, notify callers of delays, and operate the multi-line phone system and computer software. Ensure optimal transportation services are provided to patients and referring agencies. Work varying shifts including weekends and holidays, managing high-stress situations with strong attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to hear well
- Must be able to speak, write, and understand English fluently
- Prior Dispatch or medical experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency in spelling and writing English
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to deal with high stress situations
- Customer service experience
- Working knowledge and proficiency of electronic communication
- Able to quickly manage and transition between various tasks while maintaining attention to detail
- Self-confidence, emotional stability, good judgment, and tolerance for high stress
- Possess good verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle adverse situations effectively
- Flexible as to work schedule and able to work varying shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays
