Job Summary
Schedule and dispatch drivers and service vehicles to appropriate locations using radios, computers, or telephones, ensuring fair and equitable assignments. Keep scheduling software updated with current data, extrapolate data reports for management and customers, and relay messages to drivers and points of contact. Confer with supervisors to address staffing issues, review manifests to determine vehicle and personnel requirements, and monitor locations to coordinate services. Advise personnel on traffic hazards and participate in daily interdisciplinary team meetings. Maintain detailed documentation and serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team. This role requires a 24-hour weekly on-call rotation for emergent after-hours transportation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of transportation or logistics experience as a Driver or Driver/Coordinator or administrative experience, preferably in a Transportation Department
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers
- Must be able to multitask and have effective record keeping skills
- Must be knowledgeable in computer applications and software
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and of safety requirements pertaining to the Transportation industry
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Dispatchers are required to participate in 24 hour on call weekly rotation, which requires staff to answer the phone 24/7 and be available to provide emergent afterhours transportation as needed
Desired Qualifications
- One year of experience working with the frail, elderly population is preferred
