Job Summary
Dispatch a fleet using proper procedures for real-time management of freight and drivers, ensuring high data accuracy within the system. Maintain driver relationships by onboarding new drivers through the 12-week process, reviewing scorecards, auditing manifests for pay accuracy, and coaching performance improvements. Monitor driver progress to ensure on-time delivery, address customer needs or escalate issues, and collect documentation for driver payment and invoicing. Promote safety culture by communicating goals, ensuring DOT compliance, and conducting pre-trip inspections. Report equipment levels daily, perform periodic equipment inspections, and review quarterly fleet performance to identify improvement opportunities. Report to the Operations Manager or Terminal Manager, with a schedule of Sunday through Wednesday from 6 AM to 6 PM.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred or substituted with 4 years of similar experience
- 2 years of dispatching CDL Class A truck drivers
- Computer applications experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA and related safety regulations
- Excellent customer service, problem solving, and decision making skills
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of all terminal operation aspects
- Travel may be required as dictated by the customer/business
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- TMS experience desired
- TMW preferred
