Job Summary
Scrape, rinse, load, and operate the commercial dishwasher to sanitize dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and utensils. Hand-wash large cookware and delicate items that cannot go through the machine. Sort, stack, and return clean items promptly to their proper stations. Keep the dish area clean, organized, and free of clutter and standing water throughout the shift. Empty trash and recycling, break down boxes, and take out garbage as needed. Maintain correct water temperature and detergent levels in the dish machine. Clean kitchen surfaces, floors, drains, and equipment as assigned. Assist with putting away deliveries, rotating stock, and basic prep tasks when time allows. Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Complete opening, closing, and deep-cleaning duties as scheduled.
Required Qualifications
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, food-safety and sanitation
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality
- Ability to work quickly and stay organized during busy service
- A team player willing to pitch in wherever needed
- Availability to work [evenings, weekends, and holidays] as scheduled
- Must be able to stand and walk for the entire shift, typically [6–10] hours, often without extended breaks
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to [50] lbs (racks of dishes, stockpots, trash, deliveries)
- Must be able to perform repetitive motions — loading racks, scrubbing, and reaching — for extended periods
- Must be able to work with hands in hot water and around steam, cleaning chemicals, and sharp objects while following safety procedures
- Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, and reach frequently, and work in a warm, humid, and sometimes slippery environment
- Must be able to tolerate frequent temperature changes between the hot dish area and cold storage areas
