Job Summary
Design, construct, and characterize display libraries to enable systematic target identification and interaction mapping for antimalarial drug discovery. Develop and optimize display screening workflows, then propose and execute biochemical, structural, and cell-based validation studies for candidate targets. Collaborate with scientists across malaria biology, proteomics, and computational biology disciplines to generate mechanistic insights into biological pathways. Prepare data-driven presentations and publish scientific manuscripts in high-impact peer-reviewed journals. This three-year full-time training position begins October 1, 2026, in San Diego, CA, with a starting salary of $87,000 USD.
Required Qualifications
- PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree) in a relevant scientific discipline completed prior to the fellowship start date
- Demonstrated record of scientific achievement (publications, presentations, patents, or equivalent)
- Strong commitment to learning, innovation, and professional development
- Demonstrated skills in molecular biology techniques such as library construction, cloning, recombinant DNA manipulation, or related approaches
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in display technologies, protein engineering, directed evolution, molecular library screening, synthetic biology, or related discovery platforms
- Familiarity with protein-protein interaction technologies beyond display methods, affinity purification, immunoprecipitation, proximity labeling, or related screening approaches
- Knowledge of mass spectrometry-based proteomics, chemical proteomics, next-generation sequencing, or computational analysis of large biological datasets
