Job Summary
Conduct discovery calls, manage donor portfolios, and cultivate prospects at the $2,500–$5,000 level to grow the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's philanthropic support. Execute strategies for soliciting maintenance donors, subscribers, and patrons through personal visits, direct mail, and telephone contact while qualifying new donors and moving them to the major gifts team. Maintain data integrity in the Tessitura database, coordinate direct mail processes, and ensure year-end solicitations reach all donors. Commit to attending evening and weekend concerts as a visible representative, with a hybrid schedule of three in-person days per week including weekend events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field of study
- At least two years of experience in non-profit fundraising in a complex institution
- Strong knowledge and application of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Outstanding organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to be discreet and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Demonstrated independent, mature judgment, and a collaborative approach to problem solving
- Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn and use various database and planning software
- Must have access to transportation for travel to meetings and donor visits
- Commitment to attend evening and weekend concerts and participate in special events as a visible and active representative of the PSO
- Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time
- Ability to operate related equipment, i.e., computer, copier, scanner
- Ability to stand for two hours or more at a time
- Ability to lift 10 to 15 pounds as needed
- Three days per week in-person work
- Work on weekends and evenings during PSO and Heinz Hall concerts or events
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a performing arts organization
- Familiarity and proficiency in Tessitura
- Knowledge of orchestral music
