Job Summary

Lead the development and assessment of the library's information literacy program by collaborating with faculty to integrate research skills into courses and curricula. Design and teach engaging instructional sessions using active learning strategies while developing online tutorials, LibGuides, and research guides. Provide research consultations and reference services to students, faculty, and staff, and support First-Year Experience initiatives. Promote discovery of library collections and databases by developing subject guides and user-centered tools, then plan outreach events and create marketing materials across print, web, and social media. Gather user feedback through surveys and focus groups to improve services. Assess instruction and student learning using evidence-informed practices, participate in accreditation activities, and serve as a liaison to academic departments for collection development and Open Educational Resources initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in library science from an ALA accredited graduate school or equivalent
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching in an information literacy instruction program and designing inclusive instructional materials
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships with the campus's student body, faculty, and staff who come from diverse backgrounds
  • Eagerness to provide an inclusive and equitable library environment by learning about the campus's needs and making recommendations to change services, policies, and procedures based on those needs
  • Exhibits initiative on independent projects and works collaboratively with other librarians and library staff
  • Organizational and time management skills that demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects of varying scopes and priorities
  • Knowledge of current trends and up-to-date practices related to providing inclusive reference services

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with and experience using the ACRL Framework in information literacy instruction
  • Experience teaching and developing inclusive instruction practices for either in-person or online settings
  • Experience with providing reference to individuals with diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge of or experience with Springshare's LibGuides platform
  • Experience designing and planning inclusive library outreach programs
  • Knowledge of or experience with creating engaging marketing content for a professional organization
  • Knowledge of best practices within OER
