Job Summary
Run educational programs in Goldstream Park, including school groups focused on the salmon run and daytime family-friendly interpretive sessions like Guided Nature Walks. Engage visitors by sharing biodiversity insights, guiding tours, and promoting community science initiatives such as iNaturalist. Operate and maintain the Goldstream Nature House and gift shop by greeting guests, managing POS transactions, restocking merchandise, and ensuring building cleanliness. Deliver activities for children and families while collecting daily interaction metrics and participating in weekly team check-ins. This seasonal role supports the park's mission to inspire environmental awareness and care for British Columbia's protected areas.
Required Qualifications
- A love of the environment and the outdoors
- Comfortable making presentations, talking to visitors, and leading tours
- Enjoy interacting with large crowds and having lots of conversations (100+ per day in busy seasons)
- Experience working or volunteering with children
- Ability to work in a remote environment, while staying connected with a team online
- Ability to lift and move program equipment (up to 30lbs)
- Ability to stay on your feet for extended periods of time and work in all types of weather conditions
- Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for accessing the park
- Personal computer with video conferencing capabilities and strong internet connection
- Personal mobile phone
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (will be completed during the hiring process)
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada and BC
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in delivering interpretive programming or outdoor education
- Experience in retail, visitor services, or customer-facing roles
- Post-secondary study in environmental sciences, natural resource management, conservation or education
- Fluency in additional languages
- Standard first aid certification or higher
