Job Summary
Lead the design, analysis, and delivery of traction power distribution systems for electrified rail networks (AC/DC traction power, substations, overhead catenary systems, and third rail). Provide technical leadership, QA/QC, and mentoring across project teams; oversee electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts; conduct advanced power system studies (load-flow, short circuit, grounding/bonding, harmonic analysis); serve as technical liaison with clients (SEPTA, Amtrak, WMATA, NJ Transit, PATH, etc.) and represent the discipline in meetings and presentations; develop technical reports, specifications, and construction documents; contribute to business development and staffing plans; ensure compliance with standards (IEEE, NESC, NFPA, AREMA); preferred experience includes modeling and simulation tools (OpenPowerNet, ETAP, SKM), and advanced leadership roles; requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years of related experience with PE licensure. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Experience in traction power design with demonstrated leadership
- Experience leading traction power work for major transit clients (SEPTA, Amtrak, WMATA, NJ Transit, PATH, etc.)
- Ability to assist in managing discipline budgets, staffing, and technical risk across multiple concurrent projects
