Job Summary
Rebuild, construct, and fortify homes for disaster survivors while mastering construction phases and mentoring volunteers. Deploy to disaster-impacted communities following natural disasters or support local recovery efforts as a Project Lead. Ensure construction sites have necessary tools and materials through planning, maintain a clean warehouse, and track project goals. Recruit and coordinate volunteer visits, welcoming groups and empowering individuals to join the solution. Commit to full-time service Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with bi-weekly Saturdays, completing 1700 hours over a 10-month term.
Required Qualifications
- At least 17 years of age
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States
- Reliable personal transportation to travel to service sites up to an hour outside of Tampa
- Ability to commit to serving full-time, Monday - Friday from 8 am - 5 pm and an average of two Saturdays a month
- Interest in learning construction skills and willingness to learn and adapt to different construction techniques per onsite training
- Physical stamina to handle extended periods of physical labor, during the day in hot or cold weather
- Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening
- Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in challenging situations, including client crises
- Ability to clearly communicate needs and expectations to people of various backgrounds
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
