Job Summary
Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Liaison for the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) leads recruitment/outreach to minority and women-owned businesses to increase DBE certifications and participation in contracts. Responsibilities include serving as supplier diversity advocate, conducting outreach to encourage DBE/MWBE participation, collecting/validating data for monthly supplier diversity reports, managing DBE certification documents, handling inquiries, maintaining the supplier diversity database, coordinating with internal/external partners to support DBE events, collaborating with MMBC to achieve DMWBE objectives, researching inquiries related to MATA’s DBE program, and designing/implementing outreach programs and seminars/workshops to educate MWBEs on purchasing and contracting procedures under MATA DBE policies. This role requires coordination with internal partners, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and travel to external locations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in business or related field (required); Bachelor's degree desirable
- At least three years of experience working with local small businesses in business development
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Self-starter, self-motivated with a can-do attitude; able to work independently and as part of a team
- Customer service orientation with a service-minded approach
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and SharePoint; experience with console-style telephone switchboard is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Familiarity with transportation industry and familiarity with FTA/DOT rules is a plus
- Must be willing to comply with MTM’s Drug and Alcohol Policy and safety/COVID protocols
- Regular and consistent attendance; ability to travel to external locations and agencies
- Valid driver's license
