Disability Support Worker - Northern Suburbs

Job Summary

Mentor clients living with complex disabilities and diverse needs in the Northern Suburbs of Perth by providing support for daily life, managing verbal aggression, and applying de-escalation techniques. Maintain professional boundaries while building rapport through shared interests and solution-based thinking. Handle awake shifts including days and active nights, ensuring reliability and resilience for clients with complex behaviors. Submit a cover letter detailing availability, location, hobbies, and fit, alongside a NDIS Worker Screening check, WWCC, full driver's license, and First Aid certification. This role offers an attractive hourly rate based on the SCHADS Award, with opportunities for progression to permanent part-time status within an innovative support organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Male
  • Experience / adaptability in complex disability needs
  • Ability to work within a justice interface
  • Experience dealing with verbal aggression and signs of threatening behaviours that could lead to physical aggression
  • Knowledge of redirection and de-escalation
  • Ability to communicate well and build rapport on common interests
  • Availability and willingness to do awake night shifts; days; or sleeps
  • Resilience

  • Ability to think on your feet and put practical solutions in place
  • Experience in putting professional boundaries in place with empathy and respect
  • Supportive nature
  • Strong communication skills
  • NDIS Worker Screening check, or be willing to obtain at your expense

  • Full Australian Drivers Licence and Comprehensively Insured Car
  • Current First Aid Certificate (Including CPR)
  • Good English language skills for both verbal and written communication
  • Attention to detail to follow documented plans and for reporting/record-keeping
  • Ability to develop positive relationships whilst maintaining strong professional boundaries
  • Ability to show initiative, think on your feet and have solution-based thinking, working in a team environment and fulfill domestic duties
