Job Summary
Senior Director-level design leadership role within WS Development’s in-house Studio, responsible for defining quality standards and elevating design across tenant fit-outs, new development, and the public realm. Lead design across a portfolio of mixed-use developments with cross-functional collaboration in Development, Construction, Leasing, and Marketing. Responsibilities include setting design standards, coordinating documentation, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining relationships with tenants and consultants. Required credentials include a design-focused architecture/interior architecture degree, 10–15+ years of experience in retail/hospitality/mixed-use, strong design vision and execution capabilities, proficiency with AutoCAD/Adobe Creative Suite/3D modeling tools, and excellent communication skills. The position offers a salary range of $150,000-$165,000 per year and eligibility for the annual bonus program.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or a related design discipline
- 10–15+ years of progressive design experience in retail, hospitality, or mixed-use environments
- Demonstrated strong design judgment and a portfolio reflecting design leadership
- Experience across tenant coordination, new development, and the public realm
- Technical fluency in architectural documentation and drawing review; able to engage with consultants and tenants submittals
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities; organizational rigor; schedule/budget awareness
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for development, leasing, and executive audiences
- Proven ability to build cross-functional relationships and manage complex stakeholder dynamics
- Experience with project and/or team management
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D modeling tools (SketchUp or Revit)
- Knowledge of materials and product specifications; familiarity with Tenant Design Manuals and consultant contract administration
