Job Summary
Director UW Capabilities and Tools – Dwelling role leads a team responsible for launching and maturing new dwelling insurance products and capabilities within a dynamic underwriting ecosystem powered by predictive models, data integration, and automated decision engines. The position drives product strategy, cross-functional collaboration (Legal, Compliance, Risk, IT), and coordination across distribution channels to bring digital-first underwriting solutions to market. Key activities include building modular solutions, managing multimillion-dollar IT budgets, translating underwriting problems into buildable requirements for IT, overseeing product launches and post-launch performance, and leveraging advanced data/tech (e.g., geospatial data, ML/AI) to improve speed, precision, and market responsiveness for USAA members. The role requires ownership of PDLC, agile processes, vendor management, regulatory compliance, and a proven ability to coach and develop a team of SMEs toward maximum performance and engagement. Qualified candidates will have senior-level underwriting/product leadership experience, strong strategic and communication skills, and a track record of delivering innovative product offerings for personal lines, including knowledge of HO, Fire, and Renters products; familiarity with Guidewire, Earnix, and related technologies; and alignment with USAA’s mission and values. Benefits and compensation are aligned with market data, with a salary range of $143,320-$273,930 plus incentives; visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are not provided. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or Statistics; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience
- 8 years relevant industry experience in Actuary, Underwriting, Marketing, or Operations to include direct product management experience
- 3 years of direct team lead or management experience
- Experience developing product strategies, product plans and product roadmaps
- Demonstrated experience in developing, deploying and supporting product and/or integrated suite of products
- Knowledge and application of Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC)
- Experience leading an agile product development process, managing multiple products simultaneously
- Exceptional communicator and engaging storyteller with a flair to communicate effectively with executives
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner
