Job Summary
Senior legal and compliance leader responsible for supporting the company’s commercial, operational, and corporate activities with a particular focus on trading compliance and enterprise-wide dispute management. Lead the trading compliance program, oversee the company’s litigation and dispute portfolio across all business areas, advise senior leadership on dispute strategy and risk, manage all phases of litigation, develop processes for risk assessment and reserves, respond to regulatory inquiries, identify trends and mitigate future exposure, implement and enhance the trading compliance program for natural gas and related commodity markets, ensure compliance with FERC, CFTC, DOE export authorizations, OFAC, and provide broad-based legal support across commercial, operational, and corporate matters. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, support LNG-related activities, and advise on contract interpretation and risk allocation.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- 12–15+ years of legal experience, preferably in energy, natural gas, LNG, or commodities industries
- Experience supporting commercial transactions and corporate legal matters
- Demonstrated experience in litigation and managing litigation, disputes, and regulatory matters across multiple subject areas
- Familiarity with trading compliance frameworks and regulatory regimes (FERC, CFTC, etc.) preferred
- In-house or top-tier law firm experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of commercial contracting and risk allocation
- Familiarity with U.S. energy or natural gas markets preferred
- Experience managing complex litigation and disputes, including oversight of outside counsel
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication, conflict resolution, and analytical skills
- Ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical business solutions
- Active license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction
