Job Summary
Director, Technology Research leading a small elite team of four Senior Research Engineers. Own the Technology Radar and build/maintain quarterly assessments (Adopt/Trial/Assess/Hold) to guide technology decisions across Technology & Media Systems. Establish and manage strategic vendor partnerships with Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and other emerging vendors; negotiate early-access programs and joint research initiatives. Lead a team of polymaths to ship prototypes and convert research into production roadmaps. Present findings to label CTOs and Edge leadership, translating cutting-edge technology into actionable strategy for an 18-month to 36-month horizon. Requires 10+ years in software/engineering/strategy, 3+ years of team leadership, and an advanced degree in CS/Engineering; strong communication skills and a passion for next-generation technology.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years in software engineering, platform engineering, or technology strategy roles
- 3+ years leading technical teams
- Deep relationships with at least two major cloud/technology vendors
- Track record of identifying and championing technologies before mainstream adoption
- Experience publishing technology assessments, radar documents, or similar artifacts
- Hands-on proficiency in at least two of: cloud infrastructure, AI/ML, distributed systems, developer tooling
