Director, Tax Regulatory Reporting and Planning

Job Summary

Manage regulatory reporting and oversight for CIBC Taxation's adherence to enterprise-wide compliance policies from a tax accounting perspective. Lead discussions, document activities, and drive continuous improvement in risk management processes, including tax-related business managed technology and end-user computing. Serve as the key accountable officer for the Regulatory Compliance Management Oversight Function, ensuring all regulatory reporting obligations are met and deficiencies are addressed promptly. Oversee quarterly risk assessments, develop global tax policies and controls, and act as a liaison between tax planning and compliance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and disclosure.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified professional with current accreditation and good standing in the CPA designation or a Bachelor of Law degree
  • ~7 years of experience in corporate tax reporting
  • Experience within a large public accounting firm or a large multi-national financial institution
  • Comprehensive tax reporting and compliance skills, including federal and provincial income tax returns
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, Power Query and other related AI applications
  • Continual upgrade of knowledge with regards to developments in tax accounting and reporting issues with respect to financial institutions and accounting for income taxes
  • Legal eligibility to work at the location(s) specified
  • Valid work or study permit (where applicable)

Desired Qualifications

  • Completed Levels I and II of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course
  • Master of Taxation
