Job Summary
Director, Student Administrative Council (SAC) at Fanshawe Student Union. Oversees governance and policy oversight for the SAC to implement board directives, evaluate strategic direction, and ensure policies are followed. Responsibilities include reviewing strategic direction, clarifying roles of the SAC, Officers, President, and Executive Director, and acting on matters referred by the President, Executive Director, or Members. Candidates should demonstrate strong integrity, collaboration, and communication skills, with a focus on governance, fiduciary understanding, and student representation. Term is July 2026 to April 2027 for a volunteer board-director role with attendance at meetings, committees, and events, including potential honorarium opportunities based on participation and expenses covered for training.

- Critical Thinking: Analytic abilities and willingness to ask probing questions to support informed decision-making
- Professionalism: High level of professionalism, ethical conduct, and independent decision-making
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse board team
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Financial and Legal Literacy (or willingness to learn): Interest in interpreting reports including financial and legal information
- Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Honesty: Ability to identify, disclose, and manage conflicts of interest
- Governance: Understanding of governance vs operations and role of staff/executive leadership
- Professional Development: Willingness to engage in ongoing governance education
- Education: Enrolled for at least two of the next three semesters, with one in Winter term
Additional Requirements
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student at Fanshawe College for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 semesters (and at least two of the next three semesters with one in Winter).
- Employee of the Fanshawe Student Union who is not prepared to resign from such a position if elected
- Not eligible if previously removed as a FSU Director or terminated for cause from employment with the Student Union
- Not eligible if serving concurrently as the student governor on the Fanshawe College Board of Governors
