Job Summary
Execute high-impact strategic initiatives across Sun Life Asset Management's asset management, wealth, and insurance businesses by developing new products and advising on external permanent capital sources such as sidecars and reinsurance. Scope and assess opportunities against SLAM strategy, financial impact, and risk tolerance, then lead execution from concept through delivery while coordinating cross-functional workstreams. Establish collaborative relationships with investment, distribution, finance, legal, and operations teams to drive internal synergies and support complex deal execution. Maintain competitive intelligence on market trends and prepare materials for senior management with recommendations and progress updates.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience in strategy consulting or corporate development, gained either as an external advisor or in-house at a multinational organization
- Structured analysis and problem solving – able to break down complex topics into logical components, apply data-driven analysis, assess risks and trade-offs, and develop practical recommendations
- Strong Strategic orientation - ability to identify and pursue opportunities that will drive maximum value across the Enterprise
- Project management and execution – able to drive priorities forward, coordinate workstreams, and enable effective cross-functional collaboration in a global matrix organization
- Deals effectively with ambiguity – deals pragmatically with change; able to reprioritize conflicting priorities, workloads, and deliverables
- Cross-functional leadership – proven track record leading complex projects across global matrix environments, ensuring timely and successful delivery
- Influencing and stakeholder buy-in – skilled at shaping perspectives, building alignment, and gaining support from diverse stakeholders
- Relationship building and collaboration – builds strong relationships and fosters collaboration across all levels of the organization
- Senior stakeholder management – adept at engaging, aligning, and managing expectations of senior leaders and cross-functional partners to drive strategic outcomes
- Proven track record leading cross-functional projects in global or matrix organizations
Desired Qualifications
- Finance-related professional designation would be an asset (CFA, CPA, or actuarial credentials)
