Job Summary

Director leads energy and climate research engagements for primarily public-sector clients, growing a portfolio within Rhodium Group’s Energy and Climate practice. Oversees a multidisciplinary team of researchers, cultivates and retains clients, drives strategic guidance on energy technologies, policy dynamics, and economic analyses, and collaborates with stakeholders to position Rhodium as an indispensable information source on energy and climate issues. The role emphasizes leadership, business development, client relationship management, and delivering actionable insights across technology, policy, and market dynamics. Occasional domestic travel is expected; preferred location is Washington, D.C. The position supports hybrid work but is centered in in-person client engagements and project leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in economics, engineering, environmental science, public policy, or related disciplines
  • 12+ years of experience working on energy and climate
  • Proven command of energy market and policy dynamics in key regions (especially in the US)
  • Familiarity with a wide range of emerging energy technologies
  • Understanding of US federal and state climate and energy policies, key agencies and organizations
  • Experience in business development (BD) and client relationship management; public sector BD experience is a plus
  • Experience collaborating with energy experts, analysts, and modelers; ability to distill actionable insights for diverse audiences
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues in a fast-paced setting; manage multiple projects; mentor and develop team members; set priorities and resolve issues
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills; public engagement experience
  • Experience operating in hybrid work environments is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years managing direct reports; experience managing hybrid teams is advantageous
  • Minimum of 5 years managing research, analysis, or product development
  • Experience working in the public sector is a plus
