Job Summary
Lead World Vision Canada's strategic communications approach as the primary editorial steward of its public voice, personally shaping clear, compelling messaging for children and families globally. Partner with advocacy, policy, and program teams to define core narrative guardrails, co-develop thought leadership including op-eds and executive visibility, and refine an integrated communications approach across campaigns and earned media. Set direction for rapid response to emerging issues and high-risk public moments, providing senior-level judgment on positioning while collaborating closely with Brand & Marketing and Media Relations. Build and track performance indicators for share of voice and public discourse understanding. This hands-on role requires exceptional writing and editorial judgment to translate complex humanitarian priorities into actionable, credible messaging for Canadian audiences.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in communications, public affairs, journalism, public policy, or related field
- 8–10+ years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, media, or related roles
- Strong experience in earned media, thought leadership, and public positioning
- Experience working in complex organizations with multiple stakeholders
- Strong strategic thinking with ability to translate priorities into actionable communications plans
- Excellent judgment on messaging, positioning, and public engagement
- Exceptional writing and editorial ability, with demonstrated experience producing clear, compelling content for public audiences under tight timelines
- Ability to simplify complex issues into clear, credible, and actionable messaging for public audiences
- Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills across teams
- Ability to manage competing priorities and respond quickly to emerging issues
- Strong understanding of media dynamics and public discourse
- Occasional domestic travel may be required
- Qualified candidates must be able to demonstrate a commitment to the core values and mission of the World Vision partnership
