Job Summary
Director of Strategic Alliances to lead third-party engagement efforts for clients in public affairs. Lead outreach to nonprofits, think tanks, academics, advocacy groups, and other third-party stakeholders; cultivate and manage long-term strategic partnerships; drive issue campaign execution through expert and institutional engagement; advise clients and collaborate with internal teams to shape and execute strategy; identify and build new alliances aligned with client needs and policy priorities; stay current on best practices in coalition management and external affairs; support grassroots mobilization and constituency engagement; domestic travel ~10%. Requires 5–10 years in coalition building or related fields; strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills; entrepreneurial, proactive client-service mindset; broad external network across public policy sectors.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience in coalition building, community or stakeholder engagement, or nonprofit/government relations
- Proven success in developing strategic alliances and managing complex projects
- Excellent communicator and relationship-builder with strong political or policy acumen
- Entrepreneurial spirit with a proactive, client-service mindset
- Strong network of external relationships across public policy sectors
- Comfortable preparing and presenting strategic materials to senior audiences
- Able to manage multiple projects with independence and sound judgment
- Confident in leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
