Job Summary
Director, State Policy (West) leads state policy across a Western multi-state portfolio (AZ, NM, NV, UT, WY) with potential Denver or Chicago metro eligibility. Drive legislative and regulatory analysis, draft testimony and talking points, and provide strategy for state policy positions on Medicaid, insurance, cost/value, 340B, and prescription drug price controls. Partners with regional leadership to develop and execute advocacy strategies, manages stakeholder engagement with policymakers, regulators, and member companies, and coordinates cross-departmental projects to advance PhRMA policy goals. Requires strong ability to review statutory and regulatory language, synthesize impacts, and communicate complex policy provisions clearly; travel up to 50% and reside in assigned Western states or Denver/Chicago metro areas.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, health policy, political science, science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 6+ years of progressive experience in state policy, government, or related trade association.
- Experience preparing and presenting testimony, briefings, and written materials before legislative or regulatory bodies.
