Job Summary
Director, Software Engineering role leading software development teams in fintech/payments platforms. Responsible for end-to-end SDLC, DevSecOps adoption, automated testing, CI/CD, and secure, scalable delivery. Balances leadership with hands-on coding (up to 50-65%), guides architecture and system design, and ensures alignment with regulatory, security, and data-governance standards. Collaborates with product, QA, risk, compliance, and security; fosters an inclusive, high-performance culture; mentors engineers; and drives improvements in tooling, testing, monitoring, and incident response. Requires extensive experience in agile/DevSecOps, containerized architectures, enterprise-scale web/mobile applications, and experience supporting AI/ML capabilities with governance and explainability considerations. US-based, hybrid work in Denver, CO; salary range $176,400–$282,500 with potential bonus/equity; travel 5-10%.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree OR 13+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience in leading software engineering teams in fintech, payments, or banking technologies/software systems
- Experience in developing and/or implementing web-based or mobile applications
- Experience in a leadership role with direct reports
- Experience in requirements gathering, system design, and architecture for complex software solutions
- Experience in agile delivery management and DevSecOps practices
- Experience in code development, review, and debugging for enterprise-scale applications
- Experience in test planning, execution, and automation
- Experience in incident response and resolution for software engineering teams
- Experience in talent management, coaching, and engineering development
- Experience in securities, payments, and banking technologies
- Experience working with container-based technologies
- Experience building and testing enterprise-scale web services
- Experience in product development and working on internal or client-facing project or technical teams
